PO-01-227 CATHETER ABLATION OUTCOMES OF ATRIAL FIBRILLATION IN ELDERLY AND VERY ELDERLY PATIENTS

چکیده
Age is a non-modifiable risk factor of atrial fibrillation (AF). To assess the efficacy and safety catheter ablation in Elderly Very population. All patients undergoing AF (2013-2021) with available data on follow-up were analyzed. Primary endpoint was recurrence based reported outcomes electrocardiographic documentation. Patients divided into 3 groups according to age at ablation; Non-Elderly (<65 years), (≥65 <75 years) (≥75 years). Baseline 1-year patient surveys used estimate severity score (AFSS) as well burden (mean duration frequency score; scale 0: no 10: continuous 9 frequencies/durations between). A total 7020 included (42% Non-Elderly, 42% 16%Very Elderly). Periprocedural major complications low (<1%). Pericardial effusion very uncommon but more frequent older (Non-Elderly (0.1%); 15 (0.5); 6 (0.5%); p<0.05). In all patients, direct relationship seen between increase age. Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in the elderly
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Atrial fibrillation is increasingly prevalent among older adults and is a major contributor to morbidity in this population due to associated strokes, heart failure, and quality of life impairment. Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation is demonstrated to be superior to antiarrhythmic therapy for the control of symptomatic and medically refractory atrial fibrillation, but i...
متن کاملCatheter ablation for atrial fibrillation in the elderly
An important proportion of patients suffering from atrial fibrillation (AF) are in the patient age group over 65 years. Cardiac and noncardiac comorbidities are often present at this age and are challenging for pharmacological management. In the setting of hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure and left ventricular hypertrophy, specific antiarrhythmic drugs frequently fail due to ...
متن کاملAnticoagulant therapy and risk of cerebrovascular events after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in the elderly.
INTRODUCTION Factors associated with cerebrovascular events (CVEs) after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA) of atrial fibrillation (AF) have not been well defined in elderly patients (≥65 years). The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and predictors of CVEs after RFA in patients with AF ≥65 years old, in comparison to patients <65 years, and with or without AF. METHODS ...
متن کاملLong-term clinical outcome and risk of catheter ablation in elderly with non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) became an effective therapy for patients with drug-refractory AF and Catheter ablation of Non-Paroxysmal AF for elderly remains a challenging task. The outcome of AF ablation in Elderly is not clear. OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study was to investigate the long-term outcomes of catheter ablation in patients with non-paroxysmal AF a...

Heart rhythm disturbances become of special importance when patients reach a senior age. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia among the old age groups, and its impact on morbidity and mortality becomes of paramount significance. In this population, AF is responsible for significant amount of thromboembolic cerebrovascular events, especially for disabling and fatal strokes. ...
